Gingerbread House Making Family Event, St. John’s Church (Barrington, RI)

St. John’s Church and Heartworks hosted a Gingerbread House Making Event for families to come and decorate a Gingerbread House.  The houses were all assembled and ready to decorate.  Over 40 families participated in this first annual event.

Here is how one of the organizers described the evening:

“The best thing about it was that everyone had a special family time and kept talking about how meaningful it was.  Since your family is so close and meant so much to Catie it was important to me to spread that message of love in our event.  Our extra touches were having  kids write cards to the kids at St. Judes.  We had a poster describing the kids they could write to and many of our kids asked me about them and their stories – as well as Caties.  We also had girl scout troops singing Christmas carols and high school kids reading stories.   A very special moment for me was the day after.  We had 11 houses left over which we took to St. Mary’s orphanage here in town.  The thanks they gave us was worth every penny spent on those houses.”
